چکیده

The detection of scars in the cerebral cortex usually involves a manual process performed by radiologists, who have to face multiple troubles. For example, the bad calibration of the equipment used to get images of the cerebral cortex can cause spacial and geometrical distortions in the MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) sequences. Owing to the advances in algorithms capable of analyzing MRI sequences, it is possible to automatically detect scars in the cerebral cortex in a successful way. In addition, an automatic process for finding scars can decrease the subjectivity of human interpretations and serve as a tool to support diagnoses of diseases. In this paper, we propose a new methodology to detect scars in the cerebral cortex by means of the analysis of intensities in T2/MRI sequences. In particular, we implement three main algorithms: the region growing, thresholds, and artificial neural networks.

I-45: Advance MRI Sequences in Pelvic Endometriosis

Background: To assess MRI in diagnosing endometriotic lesions, emphasizing T2*weighted imaging efficacy. Materials and Methods: This prospective study of 48 females (22-38 years, average 29.6) clinically suspected of endometriosis from September 2009 to April 2012. MRI was performed with a 1.5 T imager (Siemens) with a body array coil. T1, T2 and T2* weighted (2D-FLASH) sequences were obtained ...

I-41: Imaging Strategy for Diagnosis of Adnexal Masses Including US,CT Scan and MRI

Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...

بررسی یافته های MRI مغزی در بیماران مبتلا به میگرن در مقایسه با افراد بدون میگرن

Background and purpose: Migraine affects about 12% of the general population and is one of the causes of cerebral parenchymal. Applying cross sectional imaging of brain particularly MRI opens a new approach in diagnosis of migraine pathogenesis and could highly influence the patients’ follow up program. We investigated anatomical MR imaging abnormality in people with and without migraine in sen...

DT-MRI Tractography and its Application in Cognitive Neuroscience

Recent advancement of MRI techniques and development of new methods of image analysis have allowed us to study large neural tracts within the human brain. This is based on the principle of diffusion tensor MRI that is similar to that of diffusion-weighted imaging but takes magnitude and direction of the diffusion of water into account. Using this technique we have been able to define large neur...
